Lebanese Red Cross Week

Henri Dunant, founder of the International Red Cross:

The publication of this issue of The Woman's Voice coincides with the very date on which all the members of the Red Cross family — the International Committee of the Red Cross, the League of Red Cross Societies, eighty-three national societies, and one hundred twenty million members — celebrate the memory of Henri Dunant, founder of the International Red Cross.

The opening of Red Cross Week:

On the occasion of Henri Dunant's memory, the Lebanese Red Cross is holding a week, to be opened on the second of May with a ceremony at the Capitol Cinema honored by the presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic and his wife, honorary presidents of the Red Cross. His Excellency the President and his wife, the supreme commander of the army, the ministers, the deputies, the members of the diplomatic corps, and the distinguished guests will then watch a beautiful and splendid parade of the corps of nurses and hostesses, the mobile dispensary cars, the members of the Junior Red Cross, and the various branches, the parade being accompanied by the music of the army and the gendarmerie.

The Red Cross financial campaign:

During the week, the members of the central committee of the Lebanese Red Cross will conduct a financial campaign, giving the charitable and well-intentioned the opportunity to contribute to the works of this institution, radiant with the spirit of compassion and human justice.

Red Cross Week will close on the eighth of May with the distribution of a full day's food to a thousand Lebanese families, and with a commemorative program broadcast from Radio Lebanon.

On the ninth of May, the Lebanese Red Cross will open the children's health nutrition center at the Ashrafieh dispensary.
