The Bristol was thronged on the evening of the twenty-eighth of last March with a charming family celebration on the occasion of the marriage of Miss Nuha, daughter of Dr. Farid Badoura, to Dr. Kamal Hamadeh.
It is a simple, modern marriage, founded on understanding and love: the bride holds the diploma in pharmacy from the American University of Beirut, and the groom the diploma in medicine.
Their acquaintance and their understanding began years ago, when they were both on the benches of study, and this bond grew ever firmer until it ended as warm and intimate bonds best end.
Shortly after the reception the bridal pair set out for Europe, to spend a honeymoon in Holland, Paris, and Rome. Then they returned to Beirut. It is agreed that Dr. Kamal will go next year to specialize in surgery in the United States.
The Woman's Voice congratulates the two esteemed families, Badoura and Hamadeh, and wishes the young bridal pair rivers of happiness and of love ever renewed...
At the beginning of April the tailor-designer Antoine Barakat organized an "exhibition of men's fashions" for the year 1958 in the hall of the Hotel Biarritz, in which appeared novel suits given various names, among them "Baalbek" and "Lebanon."
The "mannequin" Ghandour Abu Aziz shows the
"Lebanon" suit, made with a single piece for the front and a single piece for the back; the collar too was designed in one piece.
And Miss Gisèle Nasr, queen of the Lebanese shore, appears in a costume called "Serpent" (the peaceable snake).
