'Gibran,' by Dr. Jamil Jabr, appeared last month from 'Dar al-Rihani for Printing and Publishing.' It is an extensive study of the author of 'The Prophet,' analyzing his life, his
literature, his philosophy, and his painting.
Dr. Jabr gathered his information, as he says in the introduction, 'from careful inquiries he made concerning the women whom Gibran knew and who influenced the shaping of his destiny.' He drew part of his information 'from the intimate letters exchanged between the
poet-painter and his close friends across the stages of his life.'
Thus the book 'Gibran' has come out detailed and comprehensive, with graceful inquiry and analysis, particularly concerning Gibran's relation with the Arabs' woman of letters, 'May,' which Naimy had passed over in his biography.
The only fault we find with the book is its dress, which in elegance and production does not match its great and splendid subject — and we wish the author continued vigor in fruitful literary production.

The magazine of the Iraqi Women's Union has returned to publication after an absence of three years, during which this fine women's magazine was suspended for compelling reasons.
The issue was introduced by the union's energetic president, Mrs. Asia Wahbi, who spoke of the causes that had led to the magazine's suspension, and of the broad hope of carrying its mission steadily forward. A select company of ladies and specialist professors took part in the editing, so that the issue came out full and substantial... We congratulate the Iraqi Women's Union on its commendable activity, and we wish our fine colleague continued publication, that it may carry the Iraqi woman's message to her Arab sister.
