At a joyous family party that brought together the relatives and friends of the engaged couple, the engagement was celebrated in early June of Mr. Antoine Gharib, economic editor at our colleague al-Nahar, to the virtuous and chaste Miss Raja Qatrib, one of the educators of the new generation.
The Woman's Voice wishes the dear couple the fullness of joys.
In early June the engagement of Miss Jamal Georges al-Ghanmeh to Mr. Fouad Qatrib took place in Beirut, at the home of the fiancée; a company of relatives and friends of the engaged couple answered the invitation. After the completion of the engagement ceremonies, those present gathered around the couple, clinking glasses of whiskey and champagne... and dancing to the quiet strains of the tango. The party went on until after midnight.
The Woman's Voice wishes the young couple the fullness of joys and lasting happiness and contentment.
"Fairouz," the beloved of the world and possessor of the loveliest voice ever to sing of Lebanon, and Mr. Assi Rahbani were blessed, at the beginning of this July, with a second baby, a brother for Ziad. The delivery took place at the French Maternity Hospital, and she has returned with the child to her home in Antelias, both in perfect health.
Fairouz, as is her habit, gives in silence and with a quiet smile; as for the father, Mr. Assi, he is proud to have fathered a second "canary," who may prove, like his brother Ziad, rich in fine artistic gifts.
To Ziad's mother and father, The Woman's Voice offers its congratulations, and for the little child, its prayer for happiness and long life.
