Welcome!

On June 17 last there arrived in Lebanon, returning from Venezuela, our friend and compatriot Mrs. Widad Abd al-Baqi Assaf, accompanied by her husband, Mr. Youssef Assaf, honorary consul of Lebanon in Venezuela, and their five children (four boys and a girl). We have learned that the family intends to settle permanently in Lebanon, where the children will attend school, while Mr. Assaf returns alone, at the end of the summer, to his place of business in Venezuela.

It is worth mentioning that Mrs. Widad is a graduate of Beirut College for Women and was one of the most active of our ladies in the ranks of the Lebanese community in the Mahjar.

So welcome to our dear friend and her gracious family — and would that every Lebanese family in the lands of emigration across the seven seas might follow her example!

A Letter to the Reader...

Dear reader:

Remember always that The Woman's Voice is your own magazine, and the magazine of every refined Arab lady and girl. Send us your problems — of upbringing, of the mind, of health, and of beauty — and we shall submit them to the specialists before replying to them.

Write to us about your social activity and about the happy events in your family: have you taken a trip? Have you married off your sister or your daughter? Have you had a baby?

Send us your news, accompanied by clear photographs, to the following new address: The Woman's Voice magazine — the Bundaq Building — Agrippa Street — Hawuz al-Sa'atiyah — P.O. Box 3940 — Beirut — Lebanon

Or telephone us — before noon — at number 29142.

The important thing is that you consider this magazine your very own: keep it as a cherished record of precious family memories, circulate it among your acquaintances, and give it as a present, on occasions, to your friends and neighbors.

The Woman's Voice is worthy of your love and your trust.
