Longing for Lebanon — In the Hearts of Children

Layla Suleiman Najjar

الحنين إلى لبنان - في قلوب الأطفال · ليلى سليمان نجار

Composed by Layla, daughter of the Honorable Dr. Suleiman Najjar, head of the Medical Service of the Arab Army in Amman. She is nine years old:

Oh, if only I could go back to my country.

Oh, if only I were in my country
I would sing so much, so much

Oh, if only I could go back to my family.

If I went back to my school and my friends in Lebanon,
I would sing so much, so much

I would play in my little garden and amuse myself with games.

I miss my family so much, and Lebanon is my country

Oh, if only I could go back to my big house

I miss Lebanon so much
How lovely the morning hour is in Lebanon
If I were in Lebanon I would sing so much, so much
