The Kingdom of Children

مملكة الأطفال

A certain British factory, which until recently was manufacturing weapons of war, is producing children's toys in large quantities. It belongs to the Lines Brothers company, the largest firm in the world for the manufacture of toys and baby carriages, and the world is keen to import these toys, especially the mechanical ones. Large quantities have been made, destined for export to Malta, Copenhagen, South Africa, Natal, and other countries.

The company has obtained two factories from the government in Wales so that it can meet domestic and foreign orders, and it will begin production in them within two months. Seventy percent of the baby-carriage output will be exported.

A thousand new carriages have been produced each week, and production is expected to increase in the future to 2,000 carriages in the same period. Children's bicycles of precise workmanship and bright colors, along with other mechanical toys, are being produced at the rate of five thousand toys a week.

Production of toy watches is expected to reach 40 thousand watches a day, and among the popular toys are "Jeep" cars no more than three inches long.

Mr. Angleson, the company's sales manager, says of the children's toys: "We expect to export 70 percent more of them than we exported before the war, and the only problem facing us is the problem of transport."
