From the Memorable Sayings of Faisal I

من اقوال فيصل الاول المأثورة

● We are Arabs before we are Muslims, and Muhammad is an Arab before he is a prophet.

● The religions command brotherhood on earth and the following of truth; whoever strives to sow discord between Muslim and Christian is no Arab.

● Poverty is the country's greatest internal enemy, and we must employ all our strength to fight it no less than we fight the strongest enemies abroad.

● Independence is taken, not given.

● We slept for a hundred years, but we did not die; rather we awaited the circumstance that would help us rise and go forth into the field of action, to establish and build up our glory.

● All my reliance is upon the young.

● Just as woman wakes the child from his cradle, so will she wake the nation from its slumber.

● Rule rests either upon love or upon fear, and I want the rule of love to stand over my people.
