Desires

Gladys Melki

Désirs · Gladys Melki

I would like two great wings
To know other skies
I would like, some evening, that butterflies
And eyes be mingled

I would like the flower to sing
To the bird while it sleeps
Despair to enchant me
The lamb to be the strongest

I would like to build dunes
To prefer the bitter to honey
To eat a crescent of moon
To drink a ray of sun

From desire to desire I wander
My thirst remains unquenched
My God, grant me on earth
A corner of your Paradise!
