Goethe – Musset

My Neighbor's Curtain...

My neighbor's curtain...
draws aside slowly...
slowly it draws aside...

*

I fancy that she
is breathing the air...
at her green window,
behind the silken curtains...

*

The window opens....
Why is my heart pounding?...
My neighbor knows that my eye
is upon her...
from my window

*

.. But it is a dream...
How foolish I am!
The breeze is stirring my neighbor's
silken curtain...
My neighbor is with her lover...

Its Colors, a Beauty Mark

... The bird in the valley...
sings in its nest.
Its young died in the night,
and yet it sings, for the coming of dawn...
So am I..
I love... and let pain burst from my heart;
I love.. and let brooks of tears pour
down my cheek;
I love... and with a kiss, I give my genius.
