In The Woman's Voice Clinic: Do You Get Dizzy in the Car, the Airplane, or the Boat?

في عيادة صوت المرأة: هل تدوخين في السيارة او الطيارة او المركب؟

In The Woman's Voice Clinic

... And the doctor shook his head as he listened to the woman telling her story... She had been denied travel — travel of every kind — because any sort of motion would leave her in a pitiable state of violent, deadly dizziness... She had consulted a number of doctors, and none had cured her; but she still hoped and prayed that medicine would discover a remedy to lift this deprivation from her, so that she could travel and see the world!

This time the doctor smiled, and his answer was different from the answers of the previous doctors. He made light of the calamity, saying: "The matter is simple. All you have to do is take a small yellow tablet just before traveling — and after that, travel wherever you please!"

In this news lay the height of happiness for this woman, and for the many other people who suffer from dizziness or vertigo — for it is no disease, but rather something more accursed than disease, and everyone who has experienced it will agree with me in this...

The fact is that millions of people suffer from some kind of dizziness: from travel by sea, or travel in the car, or the airplane — and some people grow dizzy from merely riding the elevator in a tall building!

It has been medically established that all these kinds of dizziness are caused by a disturbance of the balance in the inner ear...

Medicine has made many attempts against vertigo... And since seasickness is the most widespread of these kinds and the most murderous, numerous experiments were conducted upon it and hundreds of drugs were used, in the hope of discovering the healing remedy.

True, some of these drugs did a little good; but some of them caused harm more dangerous than the vertigo itself, and for this reason the experiments took their course with much caution and care — and they all ended in failure.

The discovery of the successful drug, however, came about by way of chance. This drug is now called "Dramamine." The original purpose of its existence was to be tried in the treatment of allergies, where it was thought it might perhaps prove of some use...

Among the patients on whom the trials were made was a pregnant woman who was sensitive to certain odors. How great was her astonishment when she took this drug and then rode in the car and felt not the least dizziness, such as she had always been accustomed to before! In the intensity of her amazement she told the doctor about the matter, but he paid it no attention worth mentioning; he merely asked her to use it again — and the result was astonishing once more!

So the doctor gave her pills a third time; but this time she came back with contrary news, for she had felt an unpleasant dizziness despite having taken the medicine! And the doctor — he alone was thrown into a commotion by this last piece of news and took the greatest interest in it, because the last pills had been nothing but sugar pills, with no trace of Dramamine in them!

Here the doctor began his experiments in silence and on a wider scale. He distributed a quantity of these pills among his friends, to offer to anyone known to be affected by motion — in the car or in the airplane; and everyone who used these pills according to the doctor's directions, just before traveling, felt not the least dizziness!

The doctor wanted to make certain that Dramamine was the healing remedy for seasickness, so he tried it on a large number of passengers on two different ships — and the result was astonishing again!

But the doctors who carried out numerous experiments and succeeded in them did not hasten to announce the result, because they wished first to make certain that the drug was not harmful in any way whatever... And they are now able to announce that medicine can now draw its weapon against vertigo of any kind.

The action of these yellow tablets remains a riddle among riddles... but what has been scientifically established is that they are the healing remedy for the vertigo that has been the cause of misery to millions of people...

Angina Pectoris

The most dangerous causes of sudden death resulting from the stopping of the heart are angina pectoris, and the blockage of one of the coronary arteries connected to the heart.

Angina pectoris consists of pains that vary in severity among most sufferers; they occur most often in the middle of the chest, and very frequently spread to the neck or the shoulder or the left arm... These pains occur only as a result of bodily strain, or because of nervous agitation, and particularly when the stomach is full of food.

Those who suffer from angina pectoris, and those who are exposed to it by heredity, must keep to the side of moderation in everything, while following this advice:

1 — Avoid violent bodily and mental exertions and emotional upsets.

2 — Sleep early and for a sufficient time.

3 — Avoid bathing in cold water.

4 — Keep up simple exercise.

5 — Rest after meals.

6 — Lighten the food so that the stomach is not overloaded, and refrain from drinking water with meals and after them.

7 — Refrain from eating egg yolks, liver, kidneys, brains, and fat.

8 — Refrain from smoking.

9 — Avoid the causes of constipation.

10 — Take care of the soundness of the teeth.
