Dar al-Tufula — Baghdad

دار الطفولة - بغداد

In Iraq today there is a broad renaissance on behalf of children which, if it proves anything, proves that the Iraqi people have become aware of the gravity of the role the child plays, and of the importance of that role in the future of its life...

In Baghdad today there are dozens of kindergartens that keep pace with modern methods of education, and among the newest of these schools is the "Dar al-Tufula Kindergarten," founded two years ago by the energetic Miss Noëlle Berjaoui in the Kurd al-Pasha quarter.

Dar al-Tufula embraces the most modern methods of education and refinement; it attends to the child's bodily and psychological needs, and provides childhood with a healthful atmosphere full of surprises and delightful games.

At the children's festival held last year by the Children's Protection Society, "Dar al-Tufula" won the first prize, for the taste and perfection that distinguished its presentations.

In this picture appears a group of the children of Dar al-Tufula in one of the dances, dressed in flowers instead of clothes.
