The Return of Mrs. Salwa Mahfouz

★ The gracious emigrant Mrs. Salwa Mahfouz, wife of the great compatriot Mr. Naseeb Mahfouz, has returned to Lebanon after an absence of 19 years in São Paulo, Brazil.

Mrs. Mahfouz is accompanied by her daughter, Miss Samia; the two will spend the summer months among family and friends, and in moving about among the beautiful Lebanese mountains. Mrs. Mahfouz was astonished at the extent of progress in the stages of life, especially on the side of building.

This gracious Lebanese lady occupies in São Paulo a high social standing in Lebanese and Brazilian circles, and she is among the most active of ladies in the social and charitable fields.

Mrs. Mahfouz presides over the "League of Orthodox Ladies," Syrian and Lebanese, which, young as it is, expends wide efforts in the cause of cultural and charitable projects. The most important thing this association has done is to send to the distressed of Palestine residing in Syria and Lebanon one thousand (1,000) sacks of sugar, one thousand (1,000) sacks of rice, 24 cases of medicines, and four tons of clothing.

So The Woman's Voice, taking pride in this great work, coming as it does from our gracious ladies across the seas, welcomes the president of this association and her daughter, wishing her a pleasant stay in the homeland's hills.
