The Children's Home Project in Zahle

مشروع بيت الطفل في زحلة

★ In the course of our representative's tour of the regions he visited Zahle, where his attention was caught by the Children's Home project run by the Child Care Society, which has become the talk of the town. He paid it a visit and admired the organization and order he found there, and above all the effort of the society's members, the ladies who keep this mighty project fed — a project which [...]

shelters 125 children, all of them destitute waifs, and educates, clothes, and feeds them from the funds the members collect by their own means. The project's annual budget has reached fifteen thousand Lebanese liras.

We draw the government's attention to the need to support this national project, especially as we have learned that there are some four hundred applications which the society has been unable to accept owing to the weakness of its budget; and it is neither just nor wise that those children should remain waifs, living in vice and growing up a burden upon the homeland.

★ The two brilliant young men, Messrs. Philip and Emile Nasrallah, have returned to Zahle after years spent in the American lands in study and higher learning. The first has taken the degree of doctor in chemistry, and the second a diploma in aviation. The Woman's Voice offers its most sincere congratulations to their parents, Mr. Wadih Nasrallah and his wife Mrs. Emily — founder of the Child Care Society in Zahle — and a hearty welcome to the two noble young men.
