The Cooperation Club Camps and the Abu Izz al-Din Wedding

مخيمات نادي التعاون وزفاف ابو عز الدين

★ In the middle of last month the Cooperation Club concluded its extensive work at the camps it holds every year in the pine woods of Dhour el-Shweir. These camps usually begin in mid-September, and the summer months are divided into several sessions: one for the nutrition camp, a second for children in straitened circumstances, a third for women teachers, and a fourth for women employed in commercial establishments and elsewhere.

The healthy, athletic life they live with nature in the open air is accompanied by a general program, practical and theoretical, whose aim is to raise the cultural level of the young woman in her various circumstances.

Attendance at these camps was heavy this summer, and they yielded abundant benefits to the rising generation — some in health, some social, some moral — and they made possible for a large number of girls a delightful summer holiday at very modest cost; all this through the efforts of the club's energetic president, Miss Edma Bayyud, and a band of our devoted women who labor for the public good.

★ In mid-September the marriage was concluded of the gifted engineer Youssef Abu Izz al-Din to the refined Miss Layla, daughter of Dr. Nayef Hamzeh. The ceremony took place on Sunday morning, September 15, at the home of the bride's father in Abey.

Mr. Bashir Abu Izz al-Din and Mrs. Widad, his wife, the groom's parents, gave a wedding party held at their home in Abadiyeh at five o'clock in the evening, followed by a splendid dinner attended by more than 300 persons, which went on until the end of the evening.

"The Woman's Voice" offers the bride and groom its best wishes and lasting happiness in their new life.
