A Letter to the Reader

رسالة الى القارئ

The magazine The Woman's Voice enters a new era of its editorial life. It is a stage of sincere struggle that touches woman with a gentle touch — and behold, she is wakefulness and arousal; behold, she is a leap and an uprising: the leap of free life in the cause of fulfilling the highest national mission, in the cause of championing woman, supporting her moral position, and planting her feet firmly amid the various hard circumstances that band together against her.

The mission of The Woman's Voice was, and remains, a benevolent mission: it selects from intellectual and spiritual nourishment the soundest and the purest, and presents it at woman's tables palatable, appetizing, and abounding in goodness, truth, and beauty.

Our magazine is, moreover, a free platform for Arab pens, women of letters and men of letters alike, and for the world's intellectual production that concerns woman or suits her. Therefore the editorial board of this magazine invites the lady writers and the gentlemen writers who are jealous for its life and its flourishing to come out of their isolation, to place their hands in ours, and to redouble the endeavor to bring The Woman's Voice to the lofty level that befits a women's magazine destined to be a message of thought throughout all Arab women's circles.

And we pledge ourselves, from this day forward, to exert all that lies in our power to fulfill this constructive national mission — may God be at the aid of us all.
