A Legal Consultation!

A butcher asked a lawyer in London: "If a dog stole a piece of meat from my shop, would the dog's owner be liable?"

The lawyer answered with warmth: "No doubt about it."

Said the butcher: "Very well — your dog snatched a piece of beefsteak worth half a dollar five minutes ago..."

Said the lawyer: "Then give me the other half of the dollar, and with that I shall have collected my fee for this consultation!"
