What About Little Girls!?

ماذا عن البنات الصغيرات !؟

1 — The little girl's personality has four faces: 1 - the little girl in her holiday dress; 2 - the little girl in play clothes; 3 - the little girl after the bath; 4 - the dirty-faced little girl.

The strange thing is that in each of these four states she wears its personality as though she had been created with it!.. And ten years later, when the young man fumbles over a new suit, he will be astonished at the strange speed with which his young companion changes from "the model of the tennis outfit" to "the model of the evening gown!" It is one of the secrets of her mysterious personality!!

2 — The little girl is the only creature who can be in two places at once. The little boy must climb down from his bicycle before climbing up the tree; but the little girl can accompany the bird on its way back to the nest and be running down the street at one and the same time.

3 — And the little girl whom you sometimes surprise all decked out like a grown young lady!! She very often becomes the poets' muse... Are those stars shining in her eyes? As though she had newly arrived from a new and beautiful world?

4 — ... What faith can equal the faith of the little girl! She knows that God is calm, great, and tender, and her requests of Him are modest and moderate. She does not ask for more than she believes she deserves, and so she usually gets what she asks for!! And after that you ask me why the little girl believes?!..

5 — Have you ever watched the face of a little girl while she reads? It is like a deep, calm pool in the middle of the forest, on whose pure surface are reflected the wonders of the forest and the wonders of the sky... Why, I wonder, do we grown-ups have no astonishing stories like those the little girl reads in her book?!...

6 — Have you ever once watched the little girl playing the part of "the little mother"?... Why won't "the doll" eat everything that is good for her? Why won't she obey her little mother?... She dirties her clean clothes and asks for a story at a time when she ought to be asleep?!

7 — The little girl's nature brims over with laughter! She laughs at everything... at little boys, at animals, at the ball, at food, and the like.. And what stirs the heartiest laughter in her is the grown-ups!.. Yes, the grown-ups!!..

8 — The little girl's feeling can neither be measured nor bounded!! No human being is more miserable than a miserable little girl! When she cries, she goes on crying until the last tear in her eyes is spent... and then she becomes happy — happy to the utmost limits of happiness!!

9 — ... At a very early stage the little girl learns how to become "a woman"... She learns to look at her face in the mirror as though it belonged to someone else!! She consults her mirror with her glances and her smiles, and keeps those of them that are the most attractive!

10 — And it is an instinct in the little girl to be a "housewife"! Sometimes she adores the little apron, and stands on a little stool so she can reach "the sink," and there she gets a job done — some job!...

11 — But the most important thing about the little girl is that she is beautiful! She is beautiful because she is new and simple! Because she does not try to hide from you her sweetness and her admiration of you! She believes in you, and by that she makes you fulfill her wishes willingly and gladly!! Nothing in the world is more sublime than the little girl.
