★ Ever since Mrs. Laure Georges Tabet arrived in Geneva to represent Lebanon at the conference of the Commission on Women's Rights, she has been working to secure everything from which woman in Lebanon and in the other Arab countries might benefit. Jointly with the delegates of Iran and America she submitted a draft resolution whose text is as follows:

"The Commission on Women's Rights recommends that the Economic and Social Council adopt the following resolution:

The Economic and Social Council has taken note of the request of certain governmental and non-governmental bodies that the pamphlet 'The Political Education of Women' be rendered into the Arabic language. And since it believes that this pamphlet can be especially useful in the Arab countries, where rapid progress is today being achieved with regard to the status of woman, it requests the Secretary-General to take the measures necessary to complete this translation in the near future, and requests likewise that he see to it that this publication can be obtained at the lowest possible price."

Mrs. Laure Tabet recently returned from Geneva, and to her belongs the greatest credit for the conference's adoption of several resolutions in woman's favor, among them the granting to woman of political rights in equality with man throughout the whole world; she also succeeded in having them approve the translation into Arabic of the information of the General Secretariat of the United Nations on this subject.
