Honoring Iqbal Ezzeddine Zouk

تكريم اقبال عز الدين ذوق

The Women's Charitable Society of Tripoli held its annual celebration, to mark the passing of a quarter century since its founding and to honor its president, Mrs. Iqbal Ezzeddine Zouk, at exactly eleven o'clock last Sunday morning in the hall of the Empire Cinema, in the presence of the Minister of Justice.

The celebration opened with the national anthem; then Mrs. Samiha Naanai spoke, followed by Mrs. Sarkis, then Mr. Saadi al-Munla, then Mrs. Shafiqa Ali Salam, then Mr. Jawad Boulos, then Mrs. Ellen Rihan. Then the Minister, Mr. Fouad al-Houri, rose and delivered a social address in which he touched on the benefits of the society's noble project and praised its steps along the course of civilization; he then read the republican decree granting the society's president the gilded Lebanese Order of Merit, and presented it to the president amid a storm of applause.

Thereupon the president gave a graceful speech in which she thanked those who had honored and celebrated her; then the speakers of the celebration and Minister al-Houri were invited to lunch at the Silver Shore park.
