The New Hairstyles

التسريحات الجديدة

Are you inclined, Madam, to choose the styles for your hair yourself? Do you try them on your hair, arranging it now toward the back, now lifted, now knotted up? All this depends not on your looks alone but on your whole personality. For hair that appears in a style suited to your face is such as to increase your beauty, just as it expresses your personality most tellingly. As for change, it must leave you your personality. It is like the frock, in which the cut and the line come first; so it is with the hair, in its cut and its dressing, both set off by a small curl or a waved tip shaped like a feather.

And here are eight styles invented by the Rubinstein salon, which lately held a contest to choose which of these styles is best suited to a girl's face, and which of them adds to her beauty and gives her the loveliest head. The prize of this contest was worth one hundred pounds:

A — The first style: the hair is dressed upward with grace, without a parting; rather, the hair comes as a wave from one side to the other in light curls.

B — The second style: it gives an engaging youthfulness and liveliness; the parting is on the side, the hair above the forehead and at the crown of the head is smooth, and then the curled ends of the hair come like a halo around the face and part of the neck.

C — The third style: a new and beautiful style; the hair is dressed toward the side, so that it is perfectly smooth on the one side and curled on the other, above the ear; and at the crown of the head is a wave of curls.

D — The fourth style: the parting is in the middle, and the hair is dressed smooth until it shades into rounded curls above the ear.

E — The fifth style: there is liveliness in it; the hair is dressed upward in waves, which gives the face a formal stamp together with femininity.

F — The sixth style: engaging simplicity; the style looks like the two wings of a bird, dressed upward away from the face, with a fringe over part of the forehead.

G — The seventh style: simple and graceful; the parting on the side, and the waves above the forehead, which complete the reversed dressing above the ears.

H — The eighth style: this is the style with the new line, in its following of the shape of the head; one wave covers a small part of the ear and another a part of the forehead.

These, Madam, are the new, freshly devised styles. What is your opinion of them, and which do you prefer?
