The Visit of the Iraqi Lawyer Sabiha al-Sheikh Daoud

زيارة المحامية العراقية صبيحة الشيخ داود

At the beginning of the past month, the Iraqi lawyer Miss Sabiha al-Sheikh Daoud, inspector in the government schools for girls, visited Lebanon on her way from Turkey to spend the spring vacation. She seized the opportunity of her presence in Beirut to make contact with Lebanese women's circles and to become acquainted with the various women's organizations and the extent of their activity in the social and charitable fields. She was greatly impressed by the wide social and humanitarian fields upon which the feet of the Lebanese woman have trodden, and declared on this occasion: "The works of the Lebanese woman lack the publicity sufficient to display them as they should be — and that may be nothing but modesty on her part!"

Miss Sabiha al-Sheikh Daoud is secretary of the Iraqi Red Crescent. Miss Ibtihaj Kaddoura gave a luncheon in honor of the distinguished guest at her home, during which the ladies invited discussed how the various Arab women might cooperate to achieve their common aims.
