Society News — A Wedding in Lagos and Honors for Dr. Edma Abouchdid

أخبار المجتمعات — قران في لاغوس وتكريم الدكتورة ادما ابوشديد

★ Among the news of the Lebanese community in Lagos, "Nigeria," is the marriage of the charming Miss Janette Nakhle Tabbah, of Ghazir, to the worthy compatriot Mr. Anis Tabet Tabet, of Tripoli.
The crowning ceremony took place in the church of Lagos on the ninth of last May, amid a gathering of family and friends.
We wish the young bride and groom happiness and success, and congratulate their families on this blessed union.

★ At the end of last May there was held in New York City the first world congress for research on "Fertility and Sterility" in living beings. The American University of Beirut was asked to send a representative to this congress, and it delegated Dr. Edma Abouchdid for the purpose.
A few days ago Dr. Stanley Kerr, chairman of the research committee at the American University of Beirut, received a letter from the chairman of the congress's organizing committee, in which he said: I wish to salute the Lebanese government and the American University of Beirut, and to thank them for their interest in sending Dr. Edma Abouchdid, professor at the American University, to attend this congress.
"And I wish to inform you that the congress honored Dr. Edma Abouchdid by choosing her as chairman of one of its sections, and that she made a useful contribution to the congress's activity.
"I take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation, and to congratulate you on the choice of so excellent a representative of your university and your government as Dr. Abouchdid, who answered in the name of Lebanon when its name was called among the names of the nations represented at the congress."

The Woman's Voice, in its turn, raises its warmest congratulations to its friend Dr. Edma Abouchdid on this triumph which she has won for her homeland in the West, certain as it is that silent scientific services equal in their importance all social and humanitarian services.
