Mrs. Maria Siliathi's Dance Recital

حفلة الرقص للسيدة ماريا سيلياثي

The first of these events, which the refined artistic circles received with admiration and appreciation, was that unique artistic evening given by Mrs. Maria Siliathi for her pupils on the stage of the Capitol Cinema, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of National Education and Fine Arts, Mr. Pierre Eddé.

The hall was packed with the most refined classes of society — those who appreciate ballet dancing at its true worth and long to see it flourish in Lebanon, as in the civilized countries, at the hands of this artist-teacher in her art institute devoted to this refined, universal form of the dance.

More than a hundred girls, ranging in age from six to twenty years, took part in performing the rhythmic, symbolic dances; and the simple, splendid dances, and those inspired by the theater of nature itself, were full of wonderful artistic and emotional stirrings...

The audience of spectators, whose number exceeded a thousand, expressed its admiration in storms of warm applause. We may say that this artistic evening achieved a greater success than in any previous year.
