The Literary Corner

الزاوية الادبية

Literary circles in Lebanon look forward eagerly to the results of the literary competitions undertaken, for the encouragement of literary production, by the "Ahl al-Qalam" association: the awarding of money prizes, each worth three thousand Lebanese liras, to the best books of poetry, the story, the drama, and scholarly study to have appeared during the year 1953.

The Ahl al-Qalam association is now engaged in choosing committees from the elite of our poets, our men of letters, and our men of learning, to serve as judges for these prizes... And it has reached us that the books submitted to the competent committee, which will take part in the competitions, are as follows:

2 — Warm Poems, by Ahmad Abu Saad

The story prize:

1 — A Refugee Woman, by Dr. Georges Hanna
2 — Princess Hayfa, by Father Mubarak Thabit al-Lubnani

The drama prize:

1 — The Outcast, by Sheikh Said Takieddine
2 — Attila, by Monsignor Youssef al-Hayek
3 — Al-Nu'man, by Monsignor Youssef al-Hayek

The scholarly studies prize:
