Safe Arrivals

من ابناء السلامة

★ Last month Dr. Fuad Sabra, physician of nervous diseases at the American University of Beirut, and his wife Mrs. Ellen were blessed with a brother for their firstborn Amin, whom they named "George." We wish the two little ones a long life robed in health in the shade of their generous parents.

★ With the crescent of the new year, little "Kamal" looked out upon the world—the second son of Mr. Fuad Badr, owner of "Dar al-Kitab," from which the magazine "The Woman's Voice" is published. As we congratulate our friend Mr. Fuad Badr and his generous wife Mrs. Widad on the safe delivery and on good health, we pray that little "Kamal" may flourish and grow up alongside his brother "Habib," the two surrounded by their parents' care and tenderness.

★ Amid a chorus of jubilation and ululations, the friend of "The Woman's Voice," Mrs. Riqqat Salam, wife of Mr. Abdullah Salam, gave birth to a boy, whom she named "Nawwaf." The delivery took place at the American University of Beirut hospital at the hands of the family physician, Dr. Edma Abouchdid, who showed surpassing skill in saving the lives of mother and child in a difficult delivery, twelve years after the birth of her firstborn, Hayat...

We congratulate our friend Riqqat and her husband Mr. Abdullah Salam on the safe delivery before all else, and then on her sweet "Nawwaf," wishing him an army of brothers and sisters!!

★ And there is a fourth glad tiding, which set off a stir of joy and gladness in Lebanese circles: the tiding that Mrs. Eva Malik, wife of Dr. Charles Malik, Lebanon's ambassador plenipotentiary in Washington, has given birth to a firstborn son, after the passage of twelve years since their marriage... This happy news ran like lightning among the many friends, women and men, who had long wished to see this dream come true...

Word has reached us from Mrs. Hana Badr, who went specially to Washington to attend her daughter's delivery, that mother and child enjoy perfect health under the supervision of the most skillful physicians. The newborn has been named "Habib" after the father of Dr. Charles Malik... and by a pleasant coincidence the mother's father likewise bears this name.

So "the Lebanese Women's League" offers its warmest congratulations to the dear friend Eva and to Dr. Charles Malik on their sweet little "Habib," praying God that he may draw behind him a number of brothers and sisters who will be—like their father—the pride of this homeland...
