The "Child Welfare" Society Observes Children's Week

• The "Child Welfare" Society observed Children's Week from March 15 to 21 under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic, presenting special programs every evening over Radio Lebanon, which President Chamoun opened with a gracious address.

Taking part in the daily programs of Children's Week were an elite of educators, specialists in childhood, and workers in its cause, together with clusters of children from the public and private schools.

Children's Week closed with a ceremony held by the Society in the hall of the Ministry of Education, at which the speakers were Zahia Salman, the president; His Excellency Adel Osseiran; Wadad Cortas; Alia al-Khalil; Zakan Shakhashiri; the poet Adonis; and Rashid Karami. The ceremony was interspersed with music and charming songs.

It may fairly be said that Children's Week and Children's Day were this year a complete success, thanks to the energy of the president of Child Welfare, Mrs. Zahia Salman, and her companions, the members of the Society.
