Child Day and Mrs. Habiba Shaaban Yakan's Lecture

يوم الطفل ومحاضرة السيدة حبيبة شعبان يكن

• 'Child Day' fell on the twentieth of last March, and the Lebanese Child-Welfare Society ushered it in with a full program over Radio Lebanon, as it does every year. The participation of the embassies of the sister Arab countries in the radio week had the pleasantest effect upon the listeners. As for the National Revival Committee at the American University — that committee which gathers the pick of our young men and young women — it kindly answered the society's request and held its annual exhibition devoted to 'child care' in the same week, opening it with a brilliant party under the patronage of the First Lady of Lebanon, who graciously distributed the gifts with her own hands to the society's children and to the mothers who come faithfully to the health guidance center.

The Woman's Voice, in congratulating our friend Mrs. Zahia Salman and all who took part in child week upon their zeal and their activity in the cause of childhood and motherhood, hopes that this annual day has achieved the good results desired — material and moral alike.

• Mrs. Habiba Shaaban Yakan gave a lecture at the King Saud College on the secret of her success in the field of social service. Mrs. Yakan was most felicitous, for she relied on tactful frankness in her speech, and on simplicity and truth in depicting her milieu and her environment. There is no doubt that in this there was every benefit for her listeners, men and women alike.
