معهد الشابات المسلمات — حفلة المعهد الحديث للتفصيل والخياطة

The Modern Institute for the Teaching of the Art of Cutting and Sewing held its annual ceremony for the distribution of diplomas to the graduating students. The ceremony was distinguished by patriotic speeches and by recognition of the services this institute renders to growing girls, thanks to the efforts of its directress, Miss Victoria Fares Nasr, and her concern to raise the standard of the Modern Institute so that it may fill a great gap in the lives of our girls...

The month of June is rightly called the month of school ceremonies and diploma distributions — our schools are beehives, and our teachers and pupils a bustle of work by night and by day...

June 13 was the date of the ceremony for distributing diplomas to the graduating students of the Young Muslim Women's Institute. The ceremony was distinguished by its popular following, and the Islamic Orphanage was packed with the elite of Lebanese circles. The ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of National Education, Mr. Maurice Zouain. It was opened by the president of the association, Mrs. Habiba Shaaban Yakan, who addressed to the graduates the counsels of a watchful mother — then the speaker of the occasion, Dr. Jamal Karam Harfush, rose and delivered an engaging address that showed deep maturity and understanding.

This year 62 students graduated from the Young Muslim Women's Institute — 48 of them in sewing, 10 who obtained the Certificat, 8 in typewriting, and 7 in embroidery.

We congratulate the ladies in charge of the institute's administration on these excellent results.
