A Psychological Test — Does Your Husband Really Love You?

امتحان نفساني - هل يحبك زوجك حقاً؟

This is a "test" drawn up jointly by a number of experts — psychologists and social specialists, husbands and wives. It enables you, Madam, to appraise your marital happiness, it being understood that you have passed the honeymoon and the first years of marriage.

The questions we put to you below are familiar to you, but they will help you toward approximate answers. You are entirely free to take part in this test in earnest or by way of amusement. And should the analysis reach serious limits, our advice to you is not to hold to it to the letter — for fear you should discover that your husband does not love you enough...

The Questions

1 — Does he talk to you about his work at his office? (a) Often. (b) Sometimes. (c) Never.

2 — When you go together to look at the window displays in the shops, does he stop before the windows showing women's wear? (a) Often. (b) Sometimes. (c) Never.

3 — It is the end of a day full of exhausting work, and he has taken to his bed. The telephone rings, and it is his chief, asking his help: an important customer has arrived, and he wants him to accompany him to one of the night spots.
(a) Does he jump out of bed with enthusiasm and all good grace? (b) Does he wish the chief and the customer would go to blazes? (c) Does he go against his will, only to end by enjoying himself?

4 — During lunch an argument arose between you, and he went off to his work angry.
(a) Does he telephone you on reaching the office to tell you he is sorry?

5 — If you cared to marry a second time, whom would you choose as your partner?

6 — What is your husband's attitude toward you when you go out together?
(a) Does he pay you no attention at all? (b) Does he stay at your side? (c) Does he walk ahead of you in the street and look back to see what you are doing?

7 — You are both in the bloom of youth and at the peak of health, but your material circumstances are modest. You have two children, and you have no car. A fair inheritance comes to your husband, enough to let him buy a car. But you very much want a third child...
(a) Does he agree to your wish with pleasure and delight? (b) Or does he show no enthusiasm or interest? (c) Does he advise you to wait?

8 — Does your husband make plans in advance for spending the vacation?
(a) As soon as the date of his vacation is fixed?

(c) In the week before the vacation?

9 — During supper you tell him the news of the divorce of one of your friends!
(a) Is he upset at once, describing the man as "heartless"? (b) Does he shake his head in sign of pity? (c) Does he assert from the first that both parties made mistakes?

10 — He comes into your room while you are making up and beautifying yourself.
(a) Does he take an interest in what you are doing? (b) Does he quickly retrace his steps? (c) Does he show indifference and unconcern?

The Answers

If, Madam, you have answered yes to the following questions: 1 (b), 2 (a), 3 (b), 4 (a), 6 (c), 7 (a), 8 (b), 9 (b), and 10 (a), score 10 points for each answer.

And if you have answered yes to: 2 (b), 3 (a), 4 (c), 5 (a, b, c), 7 (b), and 10 (b), score 5 points for each answer.

The rest do not count.

If you have scored 75 points, your husband is madly in love with you.

From 60 to 75: he loves you after a fashion, but is infatuated with you most of the time.

Below 60: he takes such great care of you that no "test" is needed.
