The Money-Changer and the Actress

الصيرفي والممثلة

A money-changer in England became attached to a beautiful actress and began spending money on her lavishly. At last he resolved to marry her; but before taking her to wife he wanted to go thoroughly into the probing of her past history, so he turned to a man of the secret police and entrusted him with that task. The policeman set about his inquiries concerning her: "Her family is respectable. Her reputation is good; there is nothing in her past to be held against her, and she mixes only with the best people. But there is one black spot in her life: she has been seen several times in the company of a money-changer around whom hover certain suspicions!!"
