Queen Fatima al-Senussi

الملكة فاطمة السنوسي

In the last days of July past, Her Majesty Queen Fatima al-Senussi, Queen of Libya, visited Lebanon on her way from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after performing the duty of the pilgrimage...

She was accompanied by a large retinue and two royal airplanes... She spent two days at the "Hôtel La Roc" in Bhamdoun... during which the Lebanese government placed six automobiles at her disposal; and so Her Majesty toured for a whole day among the Lebanese summer resorts, and took a lunch of "raw kibbeh" on the banks of the Bardouni in Zahle. She said that she admired the renaissance of the Lebanese woman and her effective contribution in the field of culture and progress; the cleanliness of the Lebanese children also caught her eye, testifying to the advancement of upbringing in this country... And her admiration for Lebanon, which she was visiting for the first time, was no less than her admiration for any advanced European country...

It is worth mentioning that Her Majesty possesses great elegance, gentleness of disposition, and the utmost graciousness; she might well be described as the "democratic" Queen—and this is what has endeared her to the hearts of her subjects... She has promised to visit Lebanon for a longer stay... for the hospitality and warm welcome she found here...
