The Women of Lebanon Donate for the Victims of the Aggression in Egypt

نساء لبنان يتبرعن لضحايا العدوان بمصر

The League of Women's Organizations in Lebanon held its annual meeting in the hall of the Ministry of Education, under the presidency of Mrs. Laure Tabet.

More than sixty representatives of the women's associations attended the meeting. The secretary, Ellen Rihan, read them the minutes of the past sessions, which were ratified unanimously. Then the president, Laure Tabet, set forth the League's work — the resolutions that had been carried out and those in course of execution — and explained the efforts the League had made on behalf of Egypt in her ordeal: the telegrams of support it had sent to President Gamal Abdel Nasser, and the telegrams of thanks to the kings and presidents of the Arabs and to the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The president read the text of the telegram of thanks sent by Gamal Abdel Nasser through the president of the General Arab Women's Union, Miss Ibtihaj Kaddoura.

The League then unanimously resolved to send financial aid to the victims of the aggression, by way of the Arab Women's Union, to the Egyptian Women's Union.

Finally, Zahia Doughan read the appeal of the alumnae of the Makassed charitable schools, calling for donations of woolen sweaters to help the sons of Egypt. The president, Laure Tabet, rose and urged the delegates to answer this call of duty.
