The Poetry Forum

The "Shi'r Forum" continues its meetings every Thursday evening at the Plaza Hotel, and it has been noticed that the attendance of poets and lovers of poetry is growing steadily, thanks to the warm, well-directed discussions conducted under the leadership of the proprietor of the magazine Shi'r and the founder of its forum, Mr. Youssef al-Khal.

Around the forum gather circles of literature and poetry, among them the "Thurayya Circle," which presents to the Beirut public, from time to time, a fresh poet in a bouquet of his verse. The latest sign of its activity was a "ghazal" evening given by the poet Michel Nehme on the evening of May 4...

As for the two evenings to which the Shi'r Forum issued invitations last month — the first for Nizar Qabbani, and the second for George Saydah — their delicious taste still lingers in every mouth...
