Rose Ghorayeb's "Modern Composition"

كتاب «الانشاء الحديث» لروز غريب

There has recently appeared a book modest in its form, lofty in its meanings and aims, into which Rose Ghorayeb has breathed much of her learning, her taste, and her genuine practiced skill.

The author has suffered from the Arabic schoolbooks that are placed in the hands of our teachers and students as modern, when in reality they are nothing but abridged, counterfeit copies of the books that appeared in the fourth century of the Hijra. So it was that she brought out this book on modern composition for the second secondary class, to make it easy for teachers of the Arabic language to teach this subject on aesthetic, educational, and human foundations in the spirit of the twentieth century.

Rose Ghorayeb, the great woman of letters, has placed the keys of composition in our hands as teachers, educators, parents, and students, and we hope with insistence that the institutes of learning, official or private, in every Arab country will adopt this book for teaching to their children; our aim is that the rising generation should come to the Arabic language with love, understanding, and appreciation.
