A Soul's Cry

Amado Nervo – Poet of Argentina

هتاف نفس · امادو نارفو - شاعر الارجنتين

I want love...

I have roamed the countries of the world in the intoxication of genius... and the peoples have woven crowns of glory for my head.

Strangers welcomed me as kings and conquerors are welcomed. And beautiful women bewitched me in palaces like the palaces of legend

Yet no soul had its fill of me... and my longings were not changed.

I still want love in a small house, trim and clean, where I may taste the meaning of contentment.

Where I sit with my friends, and they see in my simple things the most precious furniture and the most sumptuous furnishings.

I want love in a house managed quietly and wisely by a devoted mother... or a tender wife

I want a house filled with love and wisdom:
That I may know the secret of happiness... and the secret of life
