Fragrances from Damascus

In the middle of last January the marriage contract was celebrated in Damascus of the distinguished, refined young man Akram al-Yousef to the charming young lady Huda Lahham, at a family gathering that brought together the two esteemed families and their closest friends in the bridegroom's magnificent mansion.

The lovely bride comes of a deep-rooted family and holds the baccalaureate certificate; her father, God rest his soul, was honorary consul of Sweden in Damascus and one of the leading men of finance in Syria. She is tall, fair-haired, and blue-eyed, and at the wedding celebration she outshone the baskets of lilies and roses in beauty and splendor, in her flowing gown embroidered with threads of gold — the color of her rich hair!

The bride and groom are still at their home in Damascus. As for the honeymoon in Europe, it has been put off until the beginning of the coming summer, owing to the many duties that oblige the farming bridegroom to remain in his country to supervise in person the course of work on his farms and his broad lands.

We wish the couple, Huda and Akram al-Yousef, the most contented of marriages and the happiest of lives, and our heartfelt congratulations to them and to their two deep-rooted families.
