Between Dr. Malik and Dr. Nassar

بين الدكتور مالك والدكتورة نصار

Readers no doubt remember the letter which Dr. Salwa Nassar addressed, in a previous issue of The Woman's Voice, to Dr. Charles Malik, sketching for him a practical plan aimed at reaching a scientific renaissance in Lebanon.

His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs took an interest in Dr. Nassar's project, regarding it as a part of his own larger program of reform. He got in touch with the Lebanese woman of science and asked her to set out the project in detail; and Dr. Nassar bent over the work for a whole night and a whole day, among figures, names, and outlines, and swiftly submitted the result — her ample report. Dr. Malik promised her that he would give the matter the attention it requires...

That was about a month ago, and Dr. Nassar has not yet received any word... She lives in expectation, but her hope is great in the authority who has pledged himself to work for the achievement of the hoped-for scientific renaissance in Lebanon...

She awaits the outcome of Dr. Malik's endeavors... and we wait too. May the waiting, for all of us, not stretch out much longer... for waiting is hard!
