Mr. Fuad Sarruf Departs for America

سفر الاستاذ فؤاد صروف الى اميركا

The vice-president of the American University of Beirut, Mr. Fuad Sarruf, has left for the United States on a leave of six months, accompanied by his wife.

Before leaving Beirut late last February, he completed the necessary arrangements required for the conduct of the office's business during his absence.

Mr. Sarruf is known for his creative activity of mind: besides his extensive work at the University, he brings out, on the average, one book every six months, gathering in it the rich fruits of his thought — the most splendid of gifts to Arabic letters.

It is hoped, moreover, that the magazine "al-Muqtataf" will return to publication through the energy of its former editor-in-chief, Mr. Sarruf; continuous efforts are under way to close this scientific and literary gap left by al-Muqtataf's disappearance throughout the past years.
