The Visit of His Majesty King Paul and Queen Frederica

زيارة جلالة الملك بول والملكة فردريكا

The visit of the sovereign of Greece, His Majesty King Paul, and Queen Frederica, with their two children, Their Highnesses Prince Constantine and Princess Sophia, to Lebanon during the last week of April past, was an important historic event, in which the people joined the government in expressing the love and esteem Lebanon harbors for the homeland of thought and beauty. The Greek and Lebanese flags, embracing along both sides of the capital's streets, bore witness to the reviving of an old and intimate friendship between two peace-loving countries, neighbors through the ages on the shore of the blue Mediterranean, joined together by native gifts and a brilliant, glorious history...

Radio Lebanon responded to this noble sentiment and devoted half an hour of every evening to special programs for this happy occasion, which had the finest effect.

And the government surrounded its honored guests with the highest displays of welcome and hospitality, organizing for them a full program and holding in their honor receptions and parties of acquaintance. The royal visit concluded with an excursion to the Cedars of the Lord, after which the guests returned to Athens as they had come, by way of the sea, safety accompanying them and joy filling their breasts.

And as we content ourselves in this brief space with this short glimpse, we promise our readers that we shall bring them in the coming issue an illustrated and detailed report of this gracious royal visit — until the coming issue, then.
