The Engagement of Hiyam Adel and Ghassoub Wehbe

On the twenty-second of May, 1958, there took place in Baghdad the engagement of Miss Hiyam, daughter of Dr. Anis Adel, to the young man Ghassoub Habib Wehbe, director of the Arab Insurance Company in Baghdad. It was held in the garden of the fiancée's home, and the guests numbered no fewer than two hundred of the families and friends of the engaged couple. When the ceremonies of the engagement were completed, glasses of champagne were passed round and the guests drank the health of the couple; then they were invited to a sumptuous banquet holding the most delicious and appetizing of dishes. Dr. Anis Adel, Mrs. Adel, and the engaged pair attended in person to every one of the guests, and the party lasted until midnight.
