The Success of British Fashions

نجاح الازياء البريطانية

The most notable feature of the fashion exhibition held in London this year was that the buyers came forward to purchase with great eagerness, out of their confidence in the fineness of the workmanship of the clothes, their beauty, and the durability of their fabrics. Numerous orders were also sent from foreign countries for the import of sports clothes, evening dresses, and evening-party gowns, without their even having examined the models. The displays of the fashion houses of Hartnell and Queen Elizabeth drew the eyes of the buyers, consisting of a collection of clothes made of beautifully colored "satin," dresses adorned with stones, and likewise beautiful, sturdy shoes.

The chief distinction of Molyneux's displays is their elegance and their style, which will remain in use and will never go out of fashion on any day.

Three recently demobilized soldiers, who are fashion designers, joined with Angèle Delanghe in creating the newest women's fashions: they are Victor Stiebel, Hardy Amies, and Charles Creed. The fashion house of Digby Morton showed some novel fashions, as did Worth and Bianca Mosca. On the whole, this period is counted a period of unparalleled success in the history of London fashion.
