To All Lebanese Women

Laure Khoury

إلى جميع اللبنانيات · لور خوري

Her Ladyship the First Lady of Lebanon, Mrs. Laure, wife of His Excellency the august President of the Republic, has graciously fulfilled this magazine's wish by addressing a word to its readers, on the occasion of Her Ladyship's departure for Europe to seek a cure. And we, as we adorn the head of this page with her word, wish her a happy journey, and pray that God may clothe her in the garment of health and well-being.

■

I send this word to the flourishing "Woman's Voice" as I stand ready to leave Lebanon in quest of a cure. I hope that every lady and girl in Lebanon will find in it a word of farewell addressed to her.

I feel the pang of parting even now, as I reflect that I shall be far, if only for a while, from dear Lebanon. My affections and my thoughts will remain turned toward Lebanon, and my constant supplication to God is that He preserve it and preserve all its children. If I have one word to address to my Lebanese sisters, it is that they persevere in their work, in their homes and their institutions, for the happiness of their sons and brothers, and that they raise up a new generation in Lebanon to carry on the mission of dignity borne by the generations past and present. May God show me my dear country and its people again in health and happiness.
