The School Bells Have Rung

قرعت أجراس المدارس

The school bells have rung, and our girls have sprung up from the siesta of summer to the toil and effort of work.

The season has come back to its former state ... a fertile season, God willing.

Those are the mothers of tomorrow, racing to the wellsprings of knowledge in a thirsting eagerness and an eager thirst...

And how sweet it is for the eye, at the day's rising and at its setting, to fall upon them — flocks tender and flocks in bloom — carrying their books in one hand and their hearts in the other, while the roads to school before them are leafing dreams and fruiting hopes...

And the school bell rings ... here comes the teacher...

And the season comes back to its former state — or more fertile than its former state, God willing.

And Hashak, the special photographer of “The Woman's Voice,” hastened to train his camera upon them, and it caught the scenes we have published on this page...

These scenes are but a small part of what is reflected upon city and village of our girls' eagerness for effort and diligence in the pursuit of learning and knowledge.
