On the Table

على المائدة

Here, madam, is one of the kinds of cake, which we were able to obtain from a young lady expert in this subject:

The Child's Cake

4 eggs
8 tablespoons of flour
8 tablespoons of fine sugar
The grated rind of one lemon
1 tablespoon of baking powder

Method

Beat the eggs in a bowl by themselves and leave them for five minutes; then add the sugar to them and beat them well together until the color of the mixture turns white; then add the quantity of flour, the baking powder, and the grated lemon rind. After beating it, put it into a mold greased with butter and dusted with flour, and bake it for ten or fifteen minutes. Before serving, cover it with "cream."
