The Perfect Arab Woman and the Model Arab Man

المرأة العربية الكاملة والرجل العربي النموذجي

♦ In No. 6 of the bulletin of the "National Congress" we came upon the opinion of Miss Ibtihaj Kaddoura, president of the Lebanese Women's Union, in which she says:

The perfect Arab woman must combine in herself the following conditions:
— The light-hearted wit of the Egyptian woman, her quickness of mind, and the graciousness of her courtesies.
— The Iraqi woman's pride in her nationhood, her ambition, and her ability to defend herself at need.
— The Syrian woman's ardor and her patriotism.
— The Palestinian woman's attachment to the old, and her taking of the new in due measure.
— The Lebanese woman's sincerity, the pleasantness of her company, and her refined taste.

As for the model Arab man, he must combine in himself the following traits:
— The Egyptian's charm, his intelligence, his "taste," his quickness of mind, and his ability to smooth over the problems of life.
— The Syrian's pride in his nationhood, his sobriety, and his prudence.
— The Iraqi's manliness, his ruggedness, and his frankness.
— The Palestinian's patriotism, his courage, and his inclination to sacrifice.
— The Saudi's generosity, his simplicity, and the soundness of his heart.
— The Lebanese's elegance, his respect for woman, and his capacity for development and for keeping pace with the modern age.
