• Miss Salwa Salah is an artist of genuine gifts, who feels within herself a deep longing for lines and colors; she works in silence, preparing artistic drawings rich in idea and rich in imagination. The Woman's Voice has succeeded in drawing this gifted artist out of her seclusion, so that she now takes part in illustrating some of this magazine's articles. We have published a number of her drawings in the past, and we publish some drawings of hers in this issue. It is an honor for us that the cover of The Woman's Voice for this issue is from a drawing by Miss Salah.

• The sensitive poet Elias Khalil Zakhariya has left Lebanon — for an absence we know not how long it will last — for the American Mahjar. Literary circles regretted the absence of this poet of deep feeling, his throat falling silent from singing over the Lebanese soil whose grains he colored with the colors of his heart.

And the circles that loved Elias Khalil Zakhariya, who writes the Arabic letters with elegance and beauty, hope that this poet's absence from his land will not be long, and that he will return to us full of heart and imagination.

• God has blessed Mrs. Olga, wife of Mr. Shukri Shammas, one of the partners in the Contracting and Trade Company, with a beautiful boy whom they have named "Maram." To the little child "Maram," a happy life in the shelter of his generous parents.

• The student Philip Matta, from Enfeh, Koura, is one of those intelligent students for whom a brilliant future is hoped in the world of letters and thought. This secondary-school student entered a composition contest for the secondary schools of Lebanon, held by the literary club of the baccalaureate section at the American University of Beirut, and he won first prize among forty secondary schools.

• The picture of the little child Samir, son of Mr. Anis Nassif, owner of the Studebaker automobile and Goodyear rubber company — his beautiful picture is published on the occasion of his baptism ceremony, which was attended by a crowd of the friends of the house; the baptism ceremony was performed by the pastor of the Evangelical community, His Grace the Reverend Farid Awda.

To the little child Samir, a life filled with joys.
