Wajd: a handsomely produced volume of verse, from the publications of the Ahliyya Establishment for Printing and Publishing, by the pen of Razzouq Faraj Razzouq, a young Iraqi poet — he represents the school of modern poetry that is sweeping Iraq today more than the other Arab lands: its substance is free verse of the tender lyric strain, with delicate poetic images.

Eternal Motherhood — a German story from the very heart of life, which draws in a moving fashion a living picture of eternal motherhood and of transcendent love — rendered into Arabic by Miss Lydia Shahin Hatoum and published by the Mash'al Bookshop, Beirut.

Miss Lydia Hatoum is one of the pioneers in the fields of education and teaching; she spent the greater part of her life as directress of a number of girls' schools in Egypt and Palestine, and hence her feeling for the book's educational value, and, in turn, for raising the standard of the family among us.

The Return of the Absent One — a modern Greek folk song translated by Mr. Muhammad Salih al-Bundaq; its subject turns on conjugal fidelity and its worth, and on what it enjoins upon us in social and moral life.
