The Mission of Egypt's Engineers

بعثة مهندسي مصر

There arrived in Beirut, in answer to an invitation from the engineers of Lebanon, a delegation of the engineers of Egypt, accompanied by Her Highness Emira Qut al-Qulub al-Damardashiyya; Hussein Bey Said, maternal uncle of His Majesty the King of Egypt; Deputy Mohammed Bey Jaafar and his wife — he being the president of the last congress; and Jawdat Bey, director of the railways and secretary of the congress, accompanied by his wife. The guests proceeded to the presidential palace and inscribed their names, where Mr. Haymari received them in the name of His Excellency the President; they then went on to the Cedars and skied upon the snows. The president of the congress declared that the delegation represents the permanent committee of the Congress of Engineers of the Arab East: "We shall discuss the question of convening the next congress, which is to meet on April 9 in Egypt, and we hope that the Lebanese technical departments will take part in it together with the Lebanese engineers; and we trust that this visit will strengthen the bonds existing between our two countries."
