The Child-Welfare Society's Statement on the Results of Children's Day

The Lebanese Child-Welfare Society, in publishing below a statement of what it has gathered from this year's Children's Day campaign, deems it its duty to offer the loftiest expressions of thanks and appreciation to Her Ladyship the wife of His Excellency the exalted President, for embracing the Society and Children's Day with her lofty patronage; to the distinguished Lebanese press, for devoting its long columns to the Society's appeals on various occasions; to the women and men of letters who wrote the valuable guiding articles during Child Week; to Radio Lebanon, for opening to the Society an ample place in its programs for a whole week; and to the institutes and organizations, their heads and their members, for volunteering to collect contributions on Children's Day. The Society also singles out for thanks the generous people of Beirut, for their understanding of the nobility of the purpose of Children's Day and their eagerness to give liberally.

It is likewise pleased to announce that the result of Children's Day this year was better than that of any year before, and that part of the sum collected will be spent on opening the third Home, and the other part on the children of our stricken brethren of Palestine; the Society has taken upon itself the care of twenty of their children, and has so far received seven of these little ones. On this occasion the Society cannot but offer a heartfelt word of thanks to the Musaytbeh committee and to the inhabitants of the Karakol al-Druze quarter.
